Shows Attended
I began carving in 1998 with the guidance of my father, Roy LeGaux Sr. I currently live in Kenner, La., but was born and raised in souteast Louisiana (St. Bernarnd Parish). I began waterfowl hunting at the age of 14, when I would go to areas such as Bayou Savage (Eastern New Orleans), Bayou Bienvenue, Delacroix Island, and Shell Beach with by brother Roy Jr. After several years of living in Arkansas, my father moved back to louisiana and began to teach my brother and I how to carve. I first learned by making miniatures and then moved on to Teal. After making a few birds from my father's patterns, I began to draw my own. This is when I began to create my own birds.
I continue to hunt waterfowl, mostly with family made decoys, and most enjoy making true working decoys. I recenty began to make other types of carvings, which include "Old Style", "Antiqued", and Decorative to name a few. I carve in Tupelo Gum, Balsa, Cypress Root, and Basswood. All of my carvings are painted in oils.
